What do you folks think about this movie? I've always thought that it was the best "Life of a G.I." movie ever - kind of suprising since it was made in, I believe, 1949. Yeah, it's not as gory or realistic in some battles scenes, but I really think that someone did an excellent job in adding all of the little things that GIs had to deal with. Anyone have any interesting background info on it? I've never found much, although I seem to remember the beginning saying it was based on a book. Thanks and Take care!!!!
Great movie--and great choice in original footage shown as well. All I know about this movie was that it had many of the actual Battle of the Bulge vets in it--American and German. George Murphy (actor in the movie) later became a U.S.Senator. There are other tidbits--but I just cannot think of them at the moment. PS, please resend me your medical questions that you sent to me--my email site crashed and lost abouy 90% of all my emails including yours. I'll be with Sarge all weekend doing some volunteer work.
