Ahh, the Old Fart Brigade! Thank you, where would we be without people like you, transiting through some chimney stack?

    :salute:

They were having a hoot by the looks of things Za, they spent the next few hours sat on deckchairs where all the tanks were parked up in the arena grinning and pointing as Challengers etc. roared past a foot or two away :D.
Didn't talk to 'em but by the looks of at least one of those cap-badges they both spent a certain amount of their youth haring about in rather similar heavily armed jeeps.

And some more shots of that 38(t), probably the armoured star of the show for me in terms of rarity and restoration quality. I took many more but won't bore with them.
Body from Hungary, used as a logger before giving up the ghost and it's wheels being fitted to forestry trailers. Turret from Norway. The final drive for his Pz.IV had just been delivered when we spoke to him, he also has a StuG under restoration & has found the right gun (PaK40) for the Saving Private Ryan Marder, so that's another one restored to correctness! :

Here's a last batch from me, typically covering other stuff, it's hard to describe the scale of W&P other than "massive". As for what's there best to stick to "lots". This years musts for me were the 38t and the Churchill, although I didn't find the toad Churchill but another one, but you'll hear no complaints for that. Also landies (Landrovers) which I'm a great fan of. Bumping into the M3 was just luck, I just followed the smoke signals. Apparently some staff car belonging to Monty was meant to be there but I didn't see it.
Next show is MO at the county ground on August Bank Holiday, less kit but easier to get a chat with the owners.

Yes, it's the Hop Farm, yes - all weapons at Beltring have to be deactivated by law, and no - I can't believe it's a week ago already....:(

    Roll on Beltring 2009 ! :)

There are live weapons on site, many of the heavier guns are issued to the WW2 reenactors by armourers, and a fair few of the tank guns have never been deactivated, requiring a class 1 firearms licence and a declaration that one will never use them.

    Another slew of pics:

Aren't these the command cars made by Horche? Also, thought I saw a Sdkfz 222 in one of your pics. I do have a fondness for those as well as the British Daimler.

Top one's a Stoewer 200 Ike, I think the bottom is too, but I'd have to double check as I get so confused by these German Kubels.
The '222' in those wide angle pics is in fact a Landrover based mockup, so might appeal to you on an altogether different level :D.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

As there seems to be an insatiable Forum demand for Beltring pics, I've downloaded a few more....

My last batch from this year's show.
Another blinder of an event, if any of you transatlanteans get the urge to visit the UK... try and hit us in mid July for the biggest Military vehicle show in the world.

Great pics guys, shame I couldn't make it once again but other things got in the way.

They did apoligise for bringing in the interloper to explain how the Series 1 was copied from the jeep... there were boos :D.

If they tried to pack all the Landrovers (from prototypes to Wolfs) present into the arena they simply wouldn't fit (probably true for the jeeps as well, though they try every year). Plenty of really rare Gypsies & Minervas too.

WOW! Thanks to all contributors to these threads! Beautiful! Wotta fun time that must be! I'm totally floored by goth the quality of the pics and the variety of the items in display, both static and active!
