I want to buy a PC game of WWII but I don't know witch one to buy.

Maybe some of you could suggest me the better one. I am playing with the Call of duty 2 demo and I am searching for something like that, so If you know a WWII game better than this one...let me know

    Thank you

I have played the Medal of Honor series and the Call of Duty series. personally I like the Medal of Honor series better. I have not played the Battle for Hill 30 game so cannot give any opinion on that one. The big difference between the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games is the Medal of Honor is pretty much a single soldier winning the war game and the Call of Duty game always has other squad mates with you.

Silent Hunter 3 is the best for the U-Boat war.

Call of Duty is far better then MOH in my opinion, and playing Online is much more fun too.

If you want a strategy game, i suggest Hearts of Iron II. Or you could always see if you can find a copy of The Operational Art of War: Vol I thats a classic.

    How about this one-

Close Combat III- The Russian Front. 1997.

Yeah, 1997- and I have yet to see anything that tops it. Real-time Strategy, top-down view. The only problem- the game really SHINES if you also have a mod for it called "RealRed". Problem is, I'd imagine it would be next to impossible to find said mod available for download anymore.

Heh... so while that would get my vote for "Best WW2 PC Game of all time", it's not the most practical vote, as finding a copy of the game and the RealRed mod would probably be next to impossible.

Tho... Patton, if you're REALLY interested, shoot me a PM ;)

I will try to find it somewhere on the web...
Maybe a 97' game would be a free download.

    Thank you

For a Pacific Theater game, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault. Outstanding.

    WEll I'll be damned- http://www.closecombat.org/CSO/index.php

Apparently the Close Combat mod/map community is still going strong!

One note tho, should you find a copy of this classic. To play the game, you have to disable Direct3d acceleration. The game is so old, that D3d acceleration (a standard part of all modern graphic engines) causes the maps to crash.
Go to the "run" prompt, and type in "dxdiag" to bring up the DirectX diagnostic tool. One of the options available using this utility is to disable D3d acceleration.

Heh... damn, I'm rather tempted to re-install this classic!

If you like land combat at tactical level on a turn-by-turn basis instead of the stress of realtime, I would advise "Combat Mission - Barbarossa to Berlin" or "Combat Mission - Afrika Korps". Go hereand see the screenshots.

Both - along with Beyond Overlord - are great games. Now i wish i hadnt left all my games at home since there is only 2 weeks left of school and oh so much work to do.

Cool thing about the game is that you give your troops orders (turn based) then click GO. Then they carry out the orders for 60secs (in conjunction with the enemy) so things can go wrong and reflect the Chain of Command delay etc. Graphics are also pretty good for the type of game it is, and maps can be HUGE (theres a whole online community for the game, with mods, skins, maps, scenarios, tourneys, etc).

These screenshots are rather low resolution, the actual game visual quality is much higher than this.
