A Canadian pilot hailing from Owen Sound, Ontario, Billy Bishop was accredited with 72 aerial victories, the highest to date for any British pilot (Commonwealth obviously included).

He's a fascinating historical figure to look at but I'm not sure how much publicity he gets outside of Canadian History class rooms. Anyone else know much about Bishop and his outstanding record?

This was a great achievement Reid, do you have any more info on this pilot?

My in-laws live in Owen Sound, where the Billy Bishop Museum is located. I've never been there, though. I'd like to visit that.

I'm sure I've heard people say that he shot down the Red Baron, but nothing I've ever read online or in books would back that up.
