Hi guys, I recently inherited a BMW R12 (or R75) replica from my Uncle who passed away. I am in the process of getting the bike up and running and was wondering if anyone here could identify the insignia on the bike?

I was also wondering what people's thoughts are about driving this thing around (without the MG42)?

    Thanks!! View attachment 22359

Do not know about the in insignia but a similar replica use to run around Seattle. I followed it for a few miles until it stopped just to get a look. Had a black lab in the sidecar....with goggles no less. If I had one I would definitely ride it.

PS, Here is a great thread of a similar nature.

Thanks for the reply! I have a german shepherd who I think will love tooling around in it- and be historically accurate too! lol

Hello Gearhead and welcome to the forum. Not sure as to what the insignia is but your ride looks nice.

I especially like the MG mount which is something I have still yet to obtain for my bike. Not sure about the rear gun mount though as I've only ever seen them on the Russian M72 and K750 bikes.

Can you post more photos of the bike?

    Thanks!

The bike just got towed to the motorcycle shop. I'll post more when I get it back with the MG42 mounted to it.

    Nice bike!

That's the insignia of the 1st Panzer Division. This was used until 1940, and again from 1943-1945. Between this period they used a yellow "tripod" and then a yellow "X".
