That looks pretty massive to me, I'm not sure what the Dimensions of modern US carriers are, but they're huge as well.

Would I be right saying it doesn't compete with the Nimitz class? That the Nimitz class is superior, or doesn't it work that way?

Well I don't usually think size determines superiority, but in the case of an aircraft carrier, the more planes available, the better.....

Its also nuclear...no need to re-fuel. At least for the carrier...may still need AVGAS...

The size difference between the two is equivalent to a WWII BB's displacement. The Nimitz-class have, IIRC, four catapults, QE-class have none. USN's carrier carries 90 fixed and rotary-wing A/C, RN's ship will carry 24-36 SVTOL planes and a dozen helos. So RN carrier has up 1/2 the A/C of the USN carrier.

Displacement wise looks pretty close to the Kittyhawks:

My impression is that she was originally a pretty good ship but kept in service too long and earned that sobriquet in her final years.

You can't take things like that seriously, sailors just do that. Especially if one of the ship's crew is in earshot.

I thought Australia was Britain's biggest warship? Or is it considered a troopship?
