Before you get your knickers in a bunch, this is not something derogatory or inflammatory. This is actually a saying from a "B" rated WWII movie that I saw as a kid. In the movie the tough veteran Sgt. has a mousy little lackey that he turns to a number of times in the movie and with great authority and gravely voice, barks out, "Butt me a fag, Stinky". Stinky being the lackey dutifully whips out a pack of smokes and taps the pack until the butt of a cigarette is available. Sgt. takes the smoke and Stinky whips out a lighter. I remember chuckling to myself every time this little scene would re-enact itself. Anyone have a clue what horrid movie this line belongs to? Thanks
Welcome on the forum Rong. Our American friends have certainly understood that this British slang for asking a cigarette. I hope someone will be able to answer your question.
Hi Rong, I knew exactly what the meaning to the saying was. Freely translated: Gimme a Cigarrette. And welcome to these forums ;-))
