Have been looking for a movie for past 2 years. I can't find it or name it. Only know of some events. Saw on 1980's TV, set in Nazi Europe, possible concentration camps, a girl walking along country road hides from approaching Germans but is found and confronted but survives. Is not Winds of War/War & Remembrance or Holocaust.
Welcome to the forums Jawohl! Do you know anything else about this movie? Remember any names or anything like that? Do you know if it deals with the holocaust at all?
Thank you for the welcome Col. Hessler. I kicked myself for not properly saying hello to this forum after my first post. About my querry. That's just it, I don't remember particulars with this film because I couldn't be more than 10 years old at the time it aired on network TV. I don't know any of the actors names or even if it delt specific with the holocaust but it did touch on the holocaust and it did seem to have actual German soldiers in the field of battle unlike file footage of German soldiers like you see in War & Remembrance. It was like a dark epic. My biggest memory of the movie is when the girl (who had a main role and seemed to be a refugee) was walking along a semi-rural road and tried to hide at the side of it from the approaching 2-3 German soldiers but was found and "roughed up" on the spot. These soldiers as well as Germany seemed to be in retreat at this point in the film heading west. I also faintly remember Berlin at night draped with Nazi banners. I must say that this is the movie that got me so totally devoted to this historical time and the image of the hiding girl has haunted me to this day. I just wonder if it's a non-Hollywood movie. Could it be the 1985 Russian Movie "Come and See" which I don't remember seeing and am close to investing $30 bucks on? Again, thanks for the welcome Hessler. This forum really seems to know it's WWII stuff. 6/5 stars!
You sure it wasn't these two mini-series you've mentioned? I can't remember anything else that was on network TV.
Nope. I have both mini-series on DVD and there is no scene with the girl. There was one more movie on CBS called "Escape from Sobibor" but I doubt this was it either.
