A picture of my Churchill mk3 project. The model is all steel but due to other commitments is taking some time. The turret is pictured sitting on top of a stanley rolling tool chest which gives an idea of the size.

Incredibly exciting. I presume 1:3 scale or so? I'd love to see your work up close, but North Devon isn't anywhere near Texas.

Very impressive work. What's the weight of the turret?

But I must ask -- if you're scratch-building the whole thing to produce a model which will probably be around 8ft long, why not scale it up a few times and do it as 1:1 scale :p

    Hi Alan......don't tempt me lol.
I think the turret is about 17kg at the moment but that will increase by quite a bit when all the running gear is in place. The steel is 6mm thick......two 3mm plates welded together as i did'nt have the cutting gear to cut through full 6mm plate. It's a bit overkill to be honest but i thought the real Churchill was well armoured so mine is going to be too.
God only knows what the whole thing will weigh when it's finished.

A few more pics......gun is nearly done and i've done some work on the periscopes.Next are the catches that keep the hatches open.I'm hoping the next pictures will be of the completed turret with welds applied, all the fittings completed and the angles ground onto the armour where applicable.
Then i can start the chassis and bodywork, the suspension units and tracks.
