Clair Cline, WWII pilot with famed violin dies

A bomber pilot who was shot down during World War II and who went on to become a Tacoma cabinetmaker has died.
The violin he fashioned out of bed slats in a prison camp and the musical memories it yielded through two generations live on.​

Clair Cline died Sunday at an assisted living center in Tacoma with his wife and one of three daughters by his side. He was 92.​
