A bomber pilot who was shot down during World War II and who went on to become a Tacoma cabinetmaker has died.
The violin he fashioned out of bed slats in a prison camp and the musical memories it yielded through two generations live on.

Clair Cline died Sunday at an assisted living center in Tacoma with his wife and one of three daughters by his side. He was 92.
