Close Combat IV-Air Cover???

In the Instructions, Im told that to get air cover, artillery support and supply I simply have to drag the icon onto a battlegroup-But it doesnt work for some reason!
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong-I could be saving alot of my men's lives!!!

 

Naval artillery support only works maps close to the see. Are you sure that you have the support available?

In what way doesn't it work? Doesn't the icon appear or don't you get the support while playing. Fire support doesn't become available at once so you might have to wait some time.

Daniel-Battle of the Bulge.
On teh icons-it says simply click and drag-which I do, but the supports don't become availabel to me after I do this.

I'm sorry but I have no clue. Have you read through the manual. Battle of the Bulge is the only one I don't have.

When you drag the support to the battlegroups, make sure that you see the small icons of airplane and artillery support above the battlegroup.

One final important note, these assets do not become available immediately. After a certain amount of time, these will become available. But there is not set time factor. I have fought many battles where I never got the support. And then there are times where they become available within seconds of the start of the battle.
