commonwealth's fate if Britian were defeated

What would happen to the british commonwealth countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa if in 1940 Britian was invaded and defeated ? Not a pre invasion peace deal but forced to surrender . With the United States remaining neutral do we somehow continue to fight ie; aid to Russia and hope the Americans will someday come in on our side , or negoiate with Germany for a ceasefire. At that time and scattered around the world our countries weren't much of a threat to Germany and other than a german naval blockade of eastern Canada I can't see how they could have got at us.. So what would eventually have happened ?
