A great WWII RTS game is Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts In Company of Heroes campaign, you play as Able company from Omaha beach to Falaise. It has great graphics, awesome physics by the Havoc engine. It focuses around a command point system. You have to capture territory sectors and you get a certain amount of resource income. You utilize your resources to beat your enemy. In Opposing Fronts, You play as the British and focus mainly around the liberation of Caen, you also get to play as the German Panzer Elite and thwart Operation Market Garden. It also has a skirmish mode and multiplayer Co-op or versus. Visit their website HERE If you do have this game, check out the Battle of the Bulge mod that I work for.
Wow, I like the looks of this. If I install it, will this mess up me playing my custom maps or anything? Anything special to add to the command line, etc?
I believe there is already a few threads on CoH, and CoH OF, but thankyou for the Battle of the Bulge mod, I didn't even know that CoH had any mods.
Thanks AnEvilguy! to learn more about botb go to this thread http://www.ww2f.com/other-wargames/28804-greetings-battle-bulge-mod.html or our ModDB site
Wow...I love the Botb mod...only reason I still play CoH cuz the rest of the game got pretty boring after a year or so.
Oh yea...quite an interesting story At first, with the original CoH, I did, and extensively, and I enjoyed it a lot. An un-enlightened friend got me the unnecessary expansion in the form of a present, but I decided to use it anyway. CoH:OF installed fine, played fine for 7 months. But then, I got a virus while irresponsibly (not inappropriately) using the Internet, so I had to reformat my whole computer. Second time around, CoH:OF, with its auto-update system, downloaded 7 months' worth of patches, but for some reason, on a memorable 114 mb patch, it downloads, installs...and gives an error of which there is no mention on the internet. So now, its singleplayer only. Thanks to the BotB team, there was at least some fun in that.
I've got CoH: OF installed and rearing to play if any of you want to join my servers anytime name is : Darcris007 I host all the time so just look me up Server name usually consists of: Australian Noobs, Aus Noobs or Aus Noobs 2vs2
As long as it's all noobs, I'll play......... I hate playing as someone 'disguised' as a noob only for him to hand my arse to me......
You might have trouble with Lag considering you are from America trying to play with an Austrlian, there always is unless you have a great connection at both ends. Toxic and I could play quite easily without to much lag, but who has the time to play that kinda game for that long especially when one battle ends up takeing 3 hours.
Umm, I have a pretty good connection..I've had Europeans connect with a ping of ~300 So it's not bad +++++ a game as of yet hasn't taken 3 hours to finish..I'm nice and win when I know I can, I've played 5 games in 3 hours // Toxic
Me and this other fellow took one another two guys and we got rid of the other one within 2hours and the other one was completely one the defensive and spent all that 2 hours just building mine fields, barb wire, dragons teeth and a sting of bunkers through half the map. Now that was impressive, (the maginot line) but he was doomed to lose, it was only a matter of time, since he wasn't attacking. However it took 5hours to push all the way through with both our forces and finally right at the end, he quit. Now that was the most annoying thing I had ever seen, 5 hours and he quit.ahhh
Aww man, that ain't cool lol. Yeah, I've play a game like that however most of the time people either quit or drop out..It seems Company of Heroes Online Play needs some network fixes so the games are a little more stable. So just tell me if you want a game some time, I'm always willing..I love it, it's the only game I play when I'm not in the mood for DotA or WoW // Toxic
Try and re-installing the game but download the patches while not using the 'auto-updater'. With my internet provider they provide what they call a 'Free Zone' which is a server that allows me to download patches, trailers, demos etc GamersHell.com - Largest Independent VideoGaming Website (gh3d.com) - GamersHell.com Auto update until the 1.5 GB patch and then start downloading from that site. Worked for me, twice Well, hope this helped! // Toxic
Two (or one) new campaign I believe with some tweaks and new units. I love the game, so I will be getting it regardless..... I also just picked up Warhammer Dawn Of War 2, which is fantastic.
