HEHEHEH-Thought you guys might like this, It seems that you are all interested in German OOBs at the moment. I'm not into them all that much myself but this seemed like a mighty good one to share with all of you...

Good going Ryan. Also, Ive got a nice Heinrich Hoffmann press pic of Friedrich Christiansen--he is wearing an NSFK Generals uniform. He was a General in that and the Luftwaffe at the same time. He is also a Pour le Mreite recipient.

When I next see Gary--ill see if he can post that pic and a new one I just bought today.

The new one shows a Frainch Colonial Soldier (who is non-caucasian) with his head sticking out of a tent made from Zeltbahns.

You might ask: "Whats so special about that?"

Well......there is a painted sige erected by the Germans who put it next to the tent in which this man was placed. The sign reads: "Sensation des Tages! Gefangener Neger vom Westfeldzug zu Sehenf" and I think it gives a date.

Apparently--for a German to see a live Frainch Colonial Soldier, I guess this POW was some sort of major attraction--or a novelty.

NO PROBLEM FRIEDRICH-glad it is appreciated...

Carl, yes I saw that pic last week on the Wehrmacht Awards forum. 2 things struck me as rather odd about it-One, I cant speak German so I can't undertsand the sign-and secondly, the soldier in question looks like he is merely inmakeup, It doesnt look like he is an actual black soldier-i just thought It was a group of German soldiers playing a prank for a laugh with some captured French equipment...

Hi Ryan--I looked at it closely--he definately is colored. I think he is Senegalese--who were very tough apponents of the Germans. Rarely did a man from Senegal surrender--they usually fought to the death.

When the Dunkirk evacuation was happening--it was Senegalese units who stayed behind and continously oon the front lines. Now I know some Frainch units stayed behind as well as many British units. It was mainly the Senegalese who fought to the last bullet--and death.

Basically the sign reads: "Sensation of the Day" (for a more proper word) Black Prisoner from the Western Army. I know this isnt an exact translation but, its the best I can do.
