Cool footage shot aboard USS Astoria(CA-34)

    Also present in the film are the cruisers San Francisco, Minneapolis, a Northampton-class cruiser(video description says it is Indianapolis but the ship at 27 seconds is clearly a Northampton), some destroyers, and the "Big E" herself, it's short and doesn't have any dialogue but still neat. :)

    Cool video (very eloquent) It's funny how, through the first few seconds, it looks as if the ships are models in the water.

    I agree, it's good that so much WW2 footage has been preserved for future generations to see.

    Now that you think about it, they do indeed look like models, good observation.

    Also a four-piper DD cutting through the formation early on. I believe the scout planes are SOCs.
