Could the russians do scorched earth on stalingrad and the oil fields on the caucasus?

You doubt the ability of Stalin to raise zombies?

Lee's first invasion of the North during the Civil War. He thought tens of thousands would join his troops to fight. But most of those with Confederate sympathies had already gone South. Thus, few Northerners joined his Army to fight.

Stalin relied on the glowing reports of his ambassador in Finland who falsely depicted the Finns as eager for Soviet liberation. Thus the Soviets expected red banners and welcoming committess to greet them as liberators. Instead they got a cultural exchange of well placed bullets that demonstrated the efficacy of the 7.62 x 54 mm rimmed cartridge.

    Yes...

Stalin wrote the dead out of the history books and erased from photographs. But he never brought anyone back.

Troof. The real pro-Confederates Marylanders were in Baltimore. The rural Marylander were not pleased to see Lee's rag tag army in 1862. Bragg's Confederates who invaded Kentucky in 1862 expected the same thing. Wagon loads of arms went undistributed.

..for another example: in Vietnam the North thought Tet would see many Southerners join with them--but they did not

Wasn't one of those Die Hard movies put to the tune of Sibelius' Finlandia?

Renny Harlin a Finnish director liked to add Finnish things in his movies. Like Die Hard 2 there was Finlandia vodka on the table. Not really sure what there was in Stallone's Cliffhanger.
