OK, some more of my trademark@ clueless newbie questions.

For instance, when a German Field Marshal received his directive from OKH, what work did he actually do?
Doesn't his staff work up the details of the plan?
I recall reading somewhere that after the Ardennes Offensive was launched, Von Runstedt sat back and read his detective novels, because there was nothing for him to do until reports came in.

What's George Patton doing all day?

What does it mean when Monty "planned" Market-Garden?
Wasn't he out golfing when the Ardennes Offensive began?

I seem to get the impression that their staffs did all the planning.

What are these guys doing all day, and what are they doing during the battles?
