There are many iconic photographs from Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. World War II Photos While at College Park in July, I found and scanned ten less well known U.S. Army Signal Corps' photos taken at the various Army Air Fields on December 7th. And the remaining five. SC 127012, Bellows Field. SC 127016, wreckage of Japanese plane, Oahu. SC 127017, Wheeler Field. SC 176596, Hickam Field. SC 176619, Hickam Field, 1640 Hrs. III-SC 127012, 127016, 127017, 176596, and 176619, credit NARA. Dave
SC 127000 and SC 127012 are often miss-captioned. They were damaged in a collision; you can see the slash in 337's fuselage from the other's wing and the cuts in 337's wing from the prop bas well as the corresponding wing damage on the other and lack of propeller. Nice shots Kerd; I've been mining the San Bruno and Seattle Archives and hit NARA II back in October, but only Navy records. One thing you might keep an eye out for is the wreckage - there were some Army Amphibs that were shot up at Wheeler and due to the changes in markings, etc., we're not quite sure what they look like; best we can guess is that some of them were still in the pre-war scheme shown in this photo but that's entirely based on Navy photo 80-G-32896, which shows an OA-9 inverted in the wreckage. Both have a cheat line/demarcation between the "hull" color and the fuseage color, which I haven't seen in the wartime camouflaged ones. If you see any other shots like that that look like they might have clear markings and numbers it might help advance our knowledge about how certain squadrons and planes were marked at the time of the attack; there is a lot of smoke and dust in what we know there....

On of the iconic photos of Pearl Harbor (not any shown here), has been mislabeled for decades and in only now being put to right. That is the one supposedly showing female volunteer firefighters working during the Japanese attack. It was taken later, and was a training exercise. Still the photos shown here are super.
