for the states it is who you know, in Orygun we can get just about anything even with our bizarre gun laws, no deacts here, the real thing as nobody wants anything "plugged", there are so many that pay top dollar to go to the local range and shoot till the barrels warp.

Meanwhile, over on another Forum, a German member is simply busting to spend 1200 Euros on a 'Spec 1' deact MP40 with missing plastic barrel rest.......

...wow these prices are just 'way outside my affordability bracket.

I had to bump this thread when I saw a ridiculous ad posted on one of the Canadian firearm websites.

He's advertising a 1942 MP40. It has the cocking handle "nicely welded" shut, but the stock still folds and the magazine is removable. Asking price: $4500!!!

I guess this was one of the rare gold plated, custom-engraved "presentation" models that was personally test-fired by Hitler himself.......

And the gun is probably also made from parts taken from several MP40´s so the gun isn´t that original either. And it´s not the guns only, I have noticed in Finland that in 7 years medal prices have gone up 300% in local net auction. People get a bit crazy when they want something and bidding goes on and on and on...

It's not just the deacts.....recently I've noticed a trend for dug-up ( Eastern Front ) bits of weapons going for 'silly' prices on e-bay.

    Like this...

    Original WW2 German MP44 , STG 43 relic part | eBay

A heavily corroded pice of receiver from an MP44 dug up in Latvia. The piece is almost unrecognizable and certainly any markings have long since rusted away.

    £50...............

If people are silly enough to pay for these, I'm not. On the other hand I live in a country where you can still find original militaria every week.

There are two 'Normandy dug' relic StG44s for sale on Dugup.co.uk ww2 relics page 1 priced at £275 and £380!!!

The guys from 'Dugup' were at the militaria show I attended last Sunday in Manchester and had both relics on display there.

I certainly wouldn't pay the asking price for either of them!

In case anyone imagined that the Ciney Fair ( the biggest in Europe ) would be swimming in MP44s, this was one of the good ones... :i_surrender:

Here's the only other one we saw there.....

...a real 'bitza' and the price IIRC was around 800 Euros.....

All the other 'MP44s' available there were modern repros.
