From The Guardian= "My friend Eric Scriven, who has died aged 88, fulfilled his early ambition to open a jazz club, founding Club 43 in Manchester and showcasing many top artists. Eric grew up in Manchester, son of Gilbert, a fireman and train driver for the London and North Eastern Railway, and his wife, Doris. He went to Wheeler Street school, Openshaw, and then Ardwick Central school, Manchester.
