Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzeman - Soldier of Orange dies at age 90

    Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, Soldier of Orange dies in his Hawaiian home at age 90.

    Erik was a student when the Germans invaded. He joined the resistance and fled to the UK, where he devised and executed a plan to inflitrate and extract Dutch agents into and from Holland. After some daring escapes he joined the RAF as a mossie pilot and flew many missions. Afetr the war he emigrated to the States, but his adventures life didn't end there. He conducted a secret mission to Indonesia and was the hear of Radio Free Europe.

    He was a very close friend to Prince Bernhard and was imortalized in the movie "Soldier of Orange", starring Rutger Hauer.

    A great Dutchman ! I read his biography a few years ago ; his Mosquito exploits are legendary....

    It's sad to hear of his passing, but he enjoyed a long life. May he rest in peace.
