I was at the store with my son yesterday and this elderly man with a shopping list was looking for grape jelly. He had a veterans cap on so my son and I asked if he needed a hand. ( he was looking frustrated) While we were chatting with him he dropped something on the floor and my son bent down to pick it up. It was a coin about the size of a quater (didn't get a good look at it). My son (age 11) did and asked what it was and he said a challenge coin and he laughed and said it got him alot of free beer when he was in the Army. We thanked him for his service and helped him find the jelly. My son shook his hand and we parted ways. Any ideas on what he was referring too?
Pictures OP Pictures! What do you think about a thread (this one?) showing Challenge Coins of all the Rogues? We have quite a few Vet's on here and it would be interesting to see.
Earlier variant: The Short Snorter Project - Home Page - What is a Short Snorter? Churchill was quite keen, sure Alanbrooke mentions it in his Diary. ~A
That would be interesting. I'll gladly post pictures of some I picked up in Northern Japan while I was there on business last year (I'm not a vet -- they're just souvenirs). I find Challenge Coins quite interesting.
