    I need your help lads.

This looks like a German canteen , but some details are different. The aluminium bottleneck makes me think of a Soviet bottle, the cup of a German medic one , but when looking I found out that the maker (MEWA) who is on the bottle made bottles fort he Swiss too (but a very different type).

I'm a bit puzzled. Is it possible that MEWA made bottles for the Russians or is this German or other ?

Cheers Kai, I was hoping you'd help me. I know the Russians used this type of model which was directly inspired by the German bottle before they got their own glass and later aluminium bottles with their own covers. What puzzles me is that they did not use this type of cup (as far as I know) . Yet they have both the same marker.

I know what you mean , but check the bottle on the bottom right and the cover on the right . It's exactly the same model. It is possibly an early borrowed model0.

I know squat about this but reading what you have written Skipper makes me wonder if it is not a mix master?

Mewa is the maker for both bottle and cup. There was (still is ) a Mewa company in Germany with branches in other countries such as Swittserland. The trouble is that it is specialized in textile and the swiss bottles are square.

    Well,

like said. My friend checked the photos this morning you sent and agrees that the canteen is a German one sold to Russians in the 1930´s... well, I did not even try to help him there but congrats Skipper.Great find!! :)

That is indeed a great find with a interesting history. Many nations sold to each other before the war but to find a reat artifact of that trade is terrific to me. Congratulations, Skipper.

Wow such an awesome item. I've got a similar one but it doesn't have any details or information about it's maker and it probably isn't from WWII.

Most interesting, if you have any idea about the are or the origin I'd be interested. Did the Yougaslavian use German made or Russian made gear? I know they had French material dating from 1916, but I'd imagine they would have some other suppliers too.

Your bottle is very different than mine though. See the bottleneck as pictured in the Russian gear book . Besides the general shape these are two entirely different bottles.

They seemed very similar at first, but you're right. I already told before that I think my bottle isn't from WWII. I will ask my grandpa more about it and I will post more info as soon as I can.

Another one 1922 dated and Austrian made. This were also used by some German units after 1938.
