My father served in the Marines in the Pacific Arena during WWll. I have letters he wrote during the war and also his Marine jackets (2 green wool material). I was wondering if it may be possible to see if any men he served with at that time may still be alive to share any details of my father etc.
Not sure what all info may be needed to find out but I do have his records from the archives.
Thank you for your time and for your service, much respect for you men and women who served!

Your quest to find men who served with your father is a noble one, however it may be a wild goose chase. These men are all in their very late 80's and 90's. Who knows.
Good luck and welcome aboard.Look for any written accounts or books on your fathers unit,he may be mentioned.

First off, what unit within the Marine Corps did he serve. 1st Marine Division, 2d Marine Division, etc. Most have an association you can contact for contact information.

I will pull out the documents this week and update his unit and all other info. Even if I don't make a connection with someone who served along side with him; it is good to learn about his history as I see it does connect to who I am and who my sons can proudly claim as a legacy from him. Looking forward in learning from this site and from you who have served, thank you!
