I told my German stepdad that I'd ask around about his uncle.
Here's the only info he had thus far...

    Name: Paul Heinz Pietsch
Born: March 28, 1918 (found in family bible)
    city/gau: Bresslau
    Branch: Army - Panzer
    Battle Fronts: see below

Poland: obtained iron cross - 2nd (said to have been the first in his unit)

Afrika: was captured by British recon while siphoning gas.

POW: unknown location (Dad remembers uncle talking about Canada)
**Prisoner exchange - back to Germany.

    Re-enlisted

Russia: Captured - exchanged back to Germany - due to medical mis-diagnosis.

Last fought in and around Germany - location unknown.

    Last seen: Argentina / Brazil

If anyone has any information please post here or contact me. For once I'd love to be the one telling the war story to my stepdad (Riener)and his mom (Inga).

    Thanks for you time everyone.
