    College football.

    I occasionally watch the NHL.

As far as a sport to play, I enjoyed baseball more as a participant.

Hockey and football. I played pick-up hockey for many years, and enjoyed it. I'll watch nearly any sport on TV.

To watch - Rugby would be top of the list but I will pretty much watch anything except for soccer (overpaid, half-wit, monkeys who seem to understand diving better than they do field sports).

To play - These days I do a bit of cycling, hillwalking and golf - the latter poorly! Used to play hockey (field hockey to you chaps) and a little bit of Rugby, and some others on top.

Well Hemingway said there were only three sports, mountain climbing, auto racing and bull fighting. At my age I am a watcher and would watch bullfighting if the bull had a 50/50 chance. Otherwise I watch F 1 auto racing, Moto GP, and World Rally Cars. Sometimes a sports car race but they have lost their allure. I do watch the America's Cup every few years and did want NZ to win this year. I do watch the Olympics, Winter and Summer . I think what we call soccer is the best sport in the world but watch infrequently which is more than I watch our football, baseball or basketball.

Now is cricket a sport????????????????? I did once watch a match in Kent, near Turnbridge Wells, beautiful thing, pretty people in white, Kent in lush green, lots of Jaguars, BMW's and a Bentley or two dotted about. Silver sitting on linen, under a slightly amber tent, filtering light over canapés and wine glasses, not pints here, A scoring system clear to the viewers but I lacking an Enigma machine was clearly at a disadvantage.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm ?????? Is Cricket a sport!

Lesley, I was being facetious !! It was an absolutely beautiful event, the only sport I could discern was people watching but that was my limitation. Then I know it has it's subtleties that I could not fathom .. I imagine one must play it to fully understand. If I had arrived in a Jaguar 3.8 saloon I would have felt more at home . Or perhaps if my old Mini had been a John Cooper in BRG !!

I wished I could have played hockey, but growing up in the South precluded that as the nearest hockey rink was several hundred miles away. There was an skating rink about an hour away from where I grew up, but getting there would have presented challenges for this farm boy.

Australian rules football is fun game to watch, although from the casual observer (me) it looks more like an organized fight. Probably would have been fun to play because we often unintentionally twisted our playground football rules to point that they favored Aussie rules somewhat.
Rugby, that is a good sport, also. Thankfully, due to my size and speed, I probably would been a wing.
Yep, those bulls in the Spanish arenas don't stand even the remotest of chances.

Now, the bulls here in the US live a pretty good life and have far, far better than even odds against the bull fighters/rodeo clowns.

To watch: college football and the inter-active tailgating, and the Winter Olympics

To play: slow pitch beer league co-ed softball ( we recruited girls who looked good in tight shorts, not so much for their on-the-field ability)

    To bet on: horse racing

So that you could console them after losses?

I didn't start playing ice hockey until I was 28. Before that, I played some street hockey. My cousin just transferred 8mm tape to DVD of us playing hockey in 1976. Pretty funny stuff.

We had our share of losses, so I'd have to say yes. There were not many long meaningful relationships on our team.
