I'm working on a 1/35 Sherman Firefly, and have been researching the interiors. Were the British Firefly interiors the same color as US army Shermans?
I can't find an accurate source to answer this.
The M-10 and M-36 Tank destroyers were olive drab for the turret and main-gun. The Achilles TD was finished in the same manner.
I'm hoping the correct answer will allow some contrast from an otherwise 'drab-finish. I'm guessing white or maybe an RAF-type gray-green.

All the Sherman kits I've made have said very light grey for the inside - but that is no guarentee!

In 'Kelly's Heroes',the inside of the Shermans look to be white or a very light grey.

Thanks guys. I decided to go with a 'dirty-white' paint-scheme to provide some contrast... even though there isn't much to be seen.
I'm doing some kit-bashing with this Dragon kit as it provides no main-gun, only the barrel. I've an old M-36 Jackson that I raided for it's 90mm gun assembly. I'll use it for the 17lb'er gun assembly... at least that which can be seen from open turret-hatches. I just thought there should be SOME representation of a main-gun assembly, and in reference photos, it appeared the 17lb and 90mm were quite similar.
I sure wish Dragon had provided a main-gun, at least like the Tamiya Sherman kits do. I'll just have to improvise I reckon...

The movie "Kelly's heroes" is discussed earlier on these forums. It turned out that, while it is a very nice picture to look at, it's not very historically accurate. I wouldn't go for their opinion without any second source that proves that colour :)

By the way now that you guys mention the interior colour; how about the interior of a nashorn? I have recently finished one in 1/72 scale and the painting scheme coming with it suggested the base colour of the tank so I painted almost all of it in sandy yellow. Would that be correct?
