After the FSSF was disbanded on 5 December 1944, the Americans in the unit joined other U.S. Army units. Would these men have been allowed to wear their distinctive red arrowhead shoulder patch (signifying their membership in that elite unit) while serving in other units during the war?

I would think so, but I'd like to see some proof.

They should have been able to wear it on their right sleeve, and the unit patch of the current unit they were re-assigned to would go on the left sleeve. Not sure if that regulation was in effect or not at that time. I believe that it would have been called an "overseas patch" then as opposed to "combat patch" as they are referred to now.
