New announcement that this website is going dark on 1 December.

The site had a crash a couple of years ago and came back on a new platform but the database of previous posts was never loaded (the site owner supposedly still has the db). There was a wealth of data and knowledge in those old posts - be a shame if it never again saw the light of day.

Email Otto. I'm sure he can do something.

Do you have contact info for the admin?

I'll try to reach out independently as well.

    Received. Thanks mcoffee.

I did sign up at the USAAF forum earlier today to contact him, but haven't received my activation email. I may need another way to contact him.

At a bit of an impasse here, frustration abounds.

I tried to join his site and message him, but I've not received the validation email. mcoffee has message him for me without success. From what I've read on his site, Scott might have some real life concerns that are intruding with his admin duties. Something I'm all to aware of myself.

I know I can keep the current data online and restore the old database to a live state, but the Dec 1 deadline is looming. I'm really hoping someone has the contact info for Scott Burris, and can connect me with him.

    Bumping this.

I've tried almost everything I can think of. There are still a few more options but it's all sending messages via third parties at this stage.

The whois info for armyairforces.com is set to private, so no help there. It's a smart move in general, but doesn't help me here.

If anyone has any contact info for Scott Burris, email, Facebook, Twitter, anything, please let me know. It would be a crying shame to have the data to offline.

Several members of that site have PM'd Scott, but so far only crickets.

Always check your Spam folder for authentication emails.

When you send emails you can ask for a return receipt. The receiver doesn't have to accept it but you can get a delivery receipt and in some cases know if he has opened the email.

I'm painfully aware of the difficulty in sending out activation emails. All applicable folders have been checked on my side, and I use gmail, so the spam filtering is rarely heavy handed.

Scott, the proprietor of the USSAF site has reportedly been pulled away from his virtual admin duties due to tangible concerns in the real world. Something I'm keenly aware of and totally understandable. Some threads on the site indicate some technical problems, so the lack of activation emails might be part of that.

A few irons in the fire with hopes of reaching Scott right now. I'm hopeful.

I hope you're successful in your efforts. It sure would be a shame to lose that database.

    Me too Lou.

The USAAF forums are one piece. Scott Burris has done a tonne of work on the USAAF, spread over a slew of websites. With any luck we can preserve it all.
