Who would typically be on a forward observer team with a 105 mm howitzer? My granddad was on one. He referred to himself, the Captain, and another guy (he was never specific and I was curious what that person did). I know my granddad drove a jeep but also helped in radioing coordinates, etc. (I think this is the appropriate area for the question)
Thanks for the info! I know when he got his bronze star he was in the jeep & he was helping in directing fire in support of a rifle company. That was when he mentioned "the other guy."
