Fr Resistance sabotage & carrier pigeons

hey, I'm writing a young adult novel about my French aunt and uncle's Resistance exploits when they were teens. My uncle sabotaged trains and later used carrier pigeons to carry messages back and forth to England. Any specific experience or knowledge about these methods would be greatly appreciated.

I heard Germans trapped pigeons with fake messages and pigeons would fly the information directly to the German HQ. As a result many resistants were relunctant to use pigeons . Unforunately I don't remember where i read that.
