Thought I'd double up on a useful thread elsewhere and maybe get a few more links in the process. (Careful clicking buy on anything straight away - Kindle offers rarely last long). Currently Free: Eastern Front Combat: The German Soldier in Battle from Stalingrad to Berlin (Stackpole Military History Series) Looks a bit odd, as some Stackpole books can be, but it is free. ~A
Just downloaded it to my Android phone. Something decent to read now when I'm sat in waiting rooms... Thanks, Adam!
You can still take advantage of the offers if you search for the book on your local Amazon site (i.e, .com, .ca, etc), not sure why their checkout process doesn't automatically transfer you to the correct place if the deal is valid there as well.
Thanks, Tommy, I just downloaded it. Just finishing an ebook on the Lorraine Campaign and will report on it. Gaines
Thanks TD. Long way from tank battles in Africa to Biak Island and New Guinea but you know me, if it's free They was a tank battle on Biak too don't ya' know. Actually one week from today (plus 69 years)
This one is available for free, also. I downloaded it to my phone and have started reading it. The first chapter talks to a paratrooper who jumped at Normandy and Market Garden and that is as far as I have gotten. One month ago I have found this web site: http://www.scribd.com/, I don't know if you know it. There are thousends of books, also about military history. You can read some of them only on payment, but many other are readable directly on internet or are downloadable gratis in PDF. When you read the file directly on internet it's also possible to add notes to the text. Examples: - http://www.scribd.com/doc/139856713/Panzers-in-Winter - http://www.scribd.com/doc/30800660/Kursk-The-Vital-24-Hours-Fowler-Will - http://www.scribd.com/doc/132965933/Michulec-R-and-Zientarzewski-M-2007-T-34-Mythical-Weapon
£0.00 Eagles of the Third Reich: Men of the Luftwaffe in WWII (Stackpole Military History Series) [Kindle Edition] Fine Twatter feed picking up mil hist ebooks going free: https://twitter.com/Freemilhistbook
I wouldn't hold out much hope for this one, but in case anyone's curious as to why Barbara von Cartland der Panzerwaffe Kurowski irritates me, it is at least currently free: Elite Panzer Strike Force: Germany's Panzer Lehr Division in World War II [Kindle Edition] (Another link from https://twitter.com/Freemilhistbook @Freemilhistbook )
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00C0E83MQ/ref=oh_d__o06_details_o06__i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 OK it's not free but HMSO's official history for £1.36 is pretty good and the Norway one is there too.
Also on Hyperwar: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/UK-NWE-Flanders/index.html I've a funny feeling it's downloadable for free as an ebook somewhere too. (And your bleedin' signature has triggered me singing that song all day... ) ~A
Billy Bragg is one of my all time favourites and this is my favourite song by him. A pro sex and anti-homophobic anthem, co-written by Johnny Marr, with the line "I had an Uncle once played for Red Star Belgrade" and a video starring Kirsty Mcoll and Phil Jupitus, how could it fail? If you want to hum a different tune I'll change my signature to some other lyric. Would you prefer Ramones or Green Day?
Stick with the Bellow-along-a-Billy I say. Also a personal favourite of his for me, largely 'cos lots of the lyrics make me laugh - proper earnest Bragness - though 'Honey I'm a big boy now' is probably my preferred option with him. (I have a soft spot for protest songs & singers, even when often diametrically opposed to my views - Something about the earnestness appeals.) Errrm... sorry, this was supposed to be something about Ebooks. Haven't looked at the Kurowski yet - free books piling up.
There is at least one E Book,I should advise every one to keep far away from it,if possible 10000 miles(unless one moves crap)
