I felt the same way. It had too much potential and I felt let down. The same with "The Boys of Company C".
Moving away from discussion for a moment, contributors may be interested to know that this months' 'Classic Military Vehicle' magazine (issue #163) contains a seven-page article and main cover photo concerning the making of 'Fury'. Obviously, this is a magazine for the AFV enthusiast and that's very much the focus of the article which does have some interesting snippets of info.
Excellent. Hollywood is dying. Slowly, painfully. Good bye Bryan Singer and all your like. Here's to a new dawn of film making. Cheers. http://variety.com/2014/digital/news/new-sony-films-pirated-in-wake-of-hack-attack-1201367036/ Douche Bryan Singer - fade away and die. There are so many like him in HWood. Scum. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2836062/Bombshell-documentary-Hollywood-pedophile-ring-preying-child-actors-s-linked-X-Men-director-Bryan-Singer-premiers-New-York.html
It started strong and faded about halfway through....the end was less than great. I was underwhelmed.
enjoyed it - obviously (unlike 'Mussolini' above) you have to suspend belief while watching it and even I found the climax slightly risible - just how many men can an immobilised vehicle wipe out. The aerial shots were unnecessary and instantly spoilt the 'illusion' - and was the 'Tiger' real or just a computer animation ? Looked reasonably convincing to me ( I haven't read this thread through from the start ..)
The Tiger is totally real, #131, the only operating Tiger I* in the world, and the first time it has appeared in a movie; they usually use things like T-34s mocked up to look like Tigers. I enjoyed it, but the last scene was ridiculous even by the standards of war movie last stands. Did you notice when the German column was first sighted, how many of them were carrying panzerfausts on their shoulders? Then suddenly when they need to use them, they have to get them out of crates? If they actually were foolish enough to march right up to the tank, then as soon as the bow MG opened up, they'd be scattered to both sides (Norman would not get another shot for the rest of the fight) and the ones on the right, also clear of the turret guns, would be blasting the tank within seconds. They set up an MG42 to bounce bullets off the tank, but the moment our heroes need to climb out of the hatches, all is quiet. * edited based on gtblackwell's post
yes, thanks.. found a comment from the Bovington museum " we wanted our Tiger to be in a film that would do it justice.." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CQdzIz2Qp4
My broadcasting teacher is a movie critic and saw a screening of it before it got released, and he said it was fairly good. He also said that it reminded him of the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, only he said that it was the "opening scene of Private Ryan during the whole movie." Those were his words of describing it. I still have yet to see it.
Don't tell Bovington but the French have a running Tiger 11 at Saumer. A very nice running one.. The Kink Tiger is so massive it makes the 88 look small. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8K5xbt9leU UTube has many videos on it. The Tank Museum at Saumur is not often mentioned but has a wonderful collection including a running Panther.
Thanks, I've corrected my post to only operating Tiger I. The II is an awesome machine, and the Panther is my personal favorite.
It indeed is, just announced, Tim Burton directing, but this time the Yanks will be in a Stuart, the nostalgic crew could not give it up for a M-24. .. Gaines
I'd forgive HWood if it could make a great Haunted Tank movie. Would even kiss Tommy C and have a massage with Travolta, discuss religion with the Smiths...Tim Burton is hit and miss. When he is good though, he's great...Is he Scientology too? Because need to have that fantasy mind set only few religions provide.
Ha...He looks only a little crazy...But, has some good stuff. ..When Burton makes the scientologists look sane, he's doing something right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Burton#Personal_life
