Hi all! Just thought I'd pop in here and say hi before I go around and ask dumb questions elsewhere. I come from South Australia, and my great-grandfather served in the CMF during WW2 and spent a bit of time up at Darwin, and was on the ground during the Bombing of Darwin. Understandably he didn't like to spend much time talking about his time there, wasn't a great day for anyone really. My grandfather was also in the CMF for a period after the war, but was a carpenter by trade so he apparently got unofficially tasked as such during his service - he was responsible for putting up "lots of solid dunnys" as he claims. I'd classify myself as a hobbyist historian, I tend to move from one area of interest to another but WW2 has always been something I've found absolutely fascinating to study. Most recently I've spent several years delving into 'Ripperology' which has been fun albeit incredibly frustrating at times for someone like me who looks for concrete answers! Hope to see some of you around! Cheers
