German cigarette box from Warsaw 1944

    I just got this cool item at a local fair. I wonder how it even made it's way to France. It was found by an antique dealer in a attic.

    Something tells me the soldier who carved this was tired of the Ostfront and was dreaming of a nice coctail on an exotic island with his girlfriend. I think it's a sweetheart box . Not exactly a picasso , but a daily testimony from a German who served in Poland in 1944
