Canadian Ben Scaman was one of the two Spitfire pilots who escorted a surrendering German aircraft back to base. He later went on to tip over doodlebugs in the fight against V1s. He is a remarkable guy who still lives alone in his own home at age 97 in Banff, Alberta. I interviewed him on June 16, 2017 for my Wartime Wednesdays blog here: www.elinorflorence.com/blog/rcaf-spitfire
Elinor, you are a constant source of new stories .....always of great interest. I remain impressed by your research...... Gaines............ Dear Elinor, I could blame my recently replaced and still not very clean cornea for my horrible typo ....I cannot believe I wrote 'unimpressed' when I meant the exact opposite,. I am amazed that you keep finding insightful.., thoughtful and revealing material about the many brave Canadians from the war.. I have not been here often of late because of sight problems but please accept my sincere apologies. I cannot read clearly the print here until I posted and I failed to proof it. Gaines
Gaines, I read right over the "un" part myself so you aren't the only one with vision problems. Thanks so much for your feedback, it is always appreciated. Best of luck.
