Hi Everyone, I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.

Firstly what type of cap is this. I believe it is a German M43 cap but any additional details would be appreciated.

Secondly is it a fake or original I bought it from a man who seems to only sell original period items BUT I have a few concerns. The first is that there are no button holes. The chipstrap seems to be sewn together and does not come apart. This is the first sign to me that it is a fake but it smells old and the satin like material on the inside doesnt look new.

Second under a black light there is a slight increase in light for the insignia. I actually dont know if its a glow or if its normal. It just seems to get brighter under a black light. I did this as I heard original period items do not glow which is something the reproductions due. These are my suspicions that it is a fake but it looks old. Its the sewn chinstrap with no buttons that throws me.

Any help would be appreciated. I attached some pics. Cheers. -John
