    Hi everyone, nice forum! I'm doing some research about german marksmen and snipers and I could use some help. I think I've got most of the things written about the subject on the internet, i.e. the famous interview. However, this is not enough!

    One of the things that I would like some help with is finding out more about these persons:

    Matthäus Hetzenauer
    Sepp Allerberg
    Helmut Wirnsberger
    Franz Karner
    Roth
    Oberjäger Friedrich Pein
    Wesel? (name of a sniper kampfgruppe)
    Unterscharführer Steinke

    I would be most grateful for any kind of information that you can provide about german snipers and marksmen. Don't forget to write down the source if you quote books and such.

    yes , sadly not a whole lot on German snipers or WW 2 snipers in general. Peter Senich's book is almost a joke, but there is another title in German, but do not have it in my files for you covering Germany snipers.
    Also maybe some of the Gebirgsjäger unit histories would be beneficial if you could find any copies.
    Biblio verlag would cover the higest scoring RK recipients by last name I believe....

    Thanks Friedrich, I believe that my time here will be enjoying. I'm quite a big poster, I'm the leading poster of feldgrau and I've posted about 800 posts since I joined thirdreichforum on the seventh of december. It's really a curse to have broadband. ;)

    OK. Charlie. I think I have some pictures over there. PM me and let's see if Friedrich might help. Besides, I can tell you about my grandfather, a formal sniper and Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht 1938-1945.

    I just discovered it, thanks for your help Carl!

    I've found the book "Im Auge des Jägers" also, it's written by a german sniper under the pseudonym Franz Karner, it's only available in german but I think I'll get it anyway, after all- deutsch macht spass! ;)
