I acquired a letter written by a man in the SS. He mentions a date in there saying 28.11.1942. I am really curious what this letter is if someone could help me translate it, or tell me what script they used to help me out. It is 3 pages long. The envelope has two SS stamps on it. Thank you for the help. Michael
Thanks. While I can't help you, there are some on the site who can translate it for you. Be patient..
Thank you!! I will post the envelope tomorrow, I just thought this was a cool piece to add to the collection.
Terrible handwriting, what I can make out is that it seems to be a friendly letter to 'Dear Rolf' The last line looks like 'herzlichsten Grüßen' = fond regards, signed 'Hanni'
If you have a lot of patience : I'm quite sure the letter is written in Sütterlin, and on "https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sütterlin"you can find an overview of the characters.
Yes this is Sütterlin. Reading old books in Sütterlin isn't that difficult, handwritten is the problem for me. I can't read every third or fourth word, i'm sorry. Lieber Ralf; Ich weiß nicht, ob Du Dir mein großes Glück vorstellen kannst, als ich nach so langer Zeit ... and then it's getting difficult. Unfortunately, my mother died a few years ago, she could read Sütterlin easily.
