Hello, my name is Panzerman and I am from Norway. I have recently become very interested in World War 2, especially the German tanks and the battles in which they participated. I hope to gain more knowledge and share it through the use of this forum, and satisfy some of hunger for tank knowledge of WW2 that now troubles me First off, does anyone have any good hi-res images and/or good information (links) to the Panzer IV, Tiger and Königstiger? Thank you in advance :smok:
Welcome to the forum. If you're interested in high-quality photographs of the Pz.Kpfw.IV, Tiger and Tiger II, I would recommend the following books: SPIELBERGER, WALTER J. The Spielberger German Armor & Military Vehicles Series - Vol. IV - Panzer IV & Its Variants. Atglen, PA : Schiffer Military History, 1993. JENTZ, THOMAS L. & DOYLE, HILARY LOUIS. GERMANY'S TIGER TANKS - D.W. to TIGER I: DESIGN, PRODUCTION & MODIFICATIONS. Atglen, PA : Schiffer Military History, 2000. JENTZ, THOMAS L. & DOYLE, HILARY LOUIS. GERMANY'S TIGER TANKS - VK45.02 to TIGER II: DESIGN, PRODUCTION & MODIFICATIONS. Atglen, PA : Schiffer Military History, 1997. JENTZ, THOMAS L. GERMANY'S TIGER TANKS - TIGER I & II: COMBAT TACTICS. Atglen, PA : Schiffer Military History, 1997. JENTZ, THOMAS L. GERMANY'S TIGER TANKS SERIES - TIGERS AT THE FRONT. Atglen, PA : Schiffer Military History, 2001. When you have these books, you'll be good for a long time. They are a bit pricey, but definately worth it.
Thanks. I will look into them. I was also thinking of online pictures. Does anybody know a good site?
Ouchies! This site is a wee bit biased, to say the least; you won't find much constructive criticism of German tanks on it, to be sure! Welcome to the forum, Panzerman. Another Scandinavian, just when I thought the flow had stopped. Another good picture site is www.wwiivehicles.com though they won't allow you to hyperlink their nice stuff. There is another which I keep forgetting to bookmark, people please help me out. And then there are the sites in Christian's signature, which have nice pictures, however they all have "collection of Christian Ankerstjerne" written all over them.
Yes "Achtungpanzer.com" and "battlefield.ru" are biased sites and i would advice you to buy books on the subject instead Panzerarm. KBO
Biased eh? They both contain some good pictures and information, I will try to sort out the biased stuff I did some more research today and getting ready to participate in some of the discussions here.
Panzerman While I don't know about Achtung - Panzer ! being biased, it does contain a lot of factual errors. I would only use it as far as not having any other information available. Roel I write that because I don't want the pictures to end up on websites everywhere. It's really the only way to protect any propritary rights.
www.onwar.com has some nice three view line drawings and the info is usually correct, although I think they need a good editor or proof reader.
Yeah, I know. It's a pity. Now we can't even use those pictures for our own stuff because you have to protect them in this way.
Just kidding... What I meant was that your pictures are not in my tank files, for example, and I won't use them in my messages, because of that name. So it works perfectly!
