A often forgotten aspect from the German propaganda . The toy helmets. Every little German was suposed to love "play war" and one good way was to offer them helmets , shakos and uniforms for Christmas or birthday. Famous Toy brands made them, often with the genuine cammo and decals too. They are great collectables. http://www.ardennes44.com/fr/items/casques__accessoires/allemagne/wehrmacht/rare-casque-allemand-jouet-pour-enfant-avec-insignes.htm#prettyPhoto[group]/3/
Hate to say this, but growing up in post Vietnam, American toy isles were filled with war toys, especially guns. i had plastic M1 Garand I was deeply fond of as I recall.
I would have dearly loved to have one of those when the sprogs were small. 'Time for playgroup, Sprog beta. Let's shake things up among the dead-eyed mummies.' On Toy guns. Three friends in total were denied them as kids by right-on parents. All went on to join different branches of the military. Oh, how we laughed...
