Hi, I came to this forum through an internet search by search engine g00gle. Looking to find Van Hofwegen Laundry, in Oosterbeek.. A field beside the laundry is listed as the battlefield grave of my grand uncle Sgt Donald Wyatt of the Glider Pilot Regiment - Arnhem Roll of Honour (viewed at the Hartenstein Hotel). So far I have viewed a number of books on operation "Market" , 2 quote Lt. MDK Dauncey* who was with Sgt D Wyatt in Oosterbeek and puts his date of death as 1 day after CWGC. Books “Glider Pilots at Arnhem” by Mike Peters & Luuk Buist * “History of the Glider Pilot Regiment” by Claude Smith * “Arnhem The Landing Grounds & Oosterbeek” by Frank Steer "A Bridge Too Far" by Cornelius Ryan I am interested in finding any other mentions of Sgt Donald Wyatt in the plethora of books covering operations "Market" and "Garden". Many thanks Wyatt grandnephew
Welcome to the Forum, Wyatt. Happy to have you aboard. I hope some of our members will be able to help you with your research.
Google this: Oosterbeek 2011 walk along the east border of the perimeter. This will bring up a number of pics. Scroll down a few pages and you'll find a pre-war photo of the Laundry. I remember reading somewhere that it was pulled down in the 90s, and was replaced by a row of bungalows. The field was also built up over the years, and a new street called Zuiderbeeksweg cus thru the former field. You can also go on Googlemaps to view the area where Sgt. Wyatt fought in 1944. Just type in Ploegseweg, Oosterbeek. Hope this helps. -Stephen McG
And you can contact Mr. Niall Cherry, who has conducted many walking tours of the Oosterbeek battlefield. niall.cherry@baesystems.com -Stephen McG

Sgt D. Wyatt is mentioned here as well. Glider Pilots in 1939-1945 A book called "Lion with Blue Wings", compiled by Ronald Seth, was published in 1956 by Victor Gollancz. At the back is a Roll of Honour which is reproduced here. http://www.newmp.org.uk/article.php?categoryid=100&articleid=120&displayorder=1 Do not own a copy myself.

My name is Simon Curtis nephew of 2nd Lt Curtis. KIA 20th September 1944. Douglas Charlton in his account of the demise of my Uncle puts him in a house with Sgt Wyatt and others when they were killed. Sgt Wyatts grave is out at a garden of a house behind the Hofwegen Laundry. I have the complete account should you wish it.
