    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the fantastic welcome yesterday when I posted about my grandad under the heading Rear Gunners: a perilous and lonely war. I have now added a picture of the Wings (scroll to the bottom of the post) that my Grandmother was given for his part in the war. Does anyone know when they were given - during or after the war, or any other info? Thank you, Louise

I cannot help you with the wings, as I am not very knowledgeable in the field of Commonwealth militaria, but great article all the same.

IIRC, the pilot's wings are "sweetheart" wings, a brooch/pin that you would give to your sweetheart/wife. There are about umpteen different flavors that can be found bu Googling on the 'net.
