Hello everyone, I'm a new one from the Netherlands, and I am 23 years old. I am very interested in the second world war. So I came here to get more information about all kinds of operations during the second world war. I am not much a writer, but more a reader. So don't expect a high post count I like to gather some information about some WW2 operations. But now I am going to scroll through to forum, if you'll don't mind. I hope on a nice stay here on the forums. Greetings from the Netherlands! -- PeaceFreak
Hi PeaceFreak. Nice to have you. Have you adopted any graves? Some of our Dutch members have done so. If not, no worries. There's plenty of information to keep you busy.
Greetings from Londen, I've been to Nord Holland twice, September 2015 then again in June 2016; both times to Amsterdam. I live in Croydon, Sud-Londen, a town twinned with Arnhem, NL Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Borough_of_Croydon 08/08/2016 Welcome aboard. Please please please don't take this as an insult; but more of a 'love for' for your country; outside 'Your Buckingham Palace' / The Royal Palace of Amsterdam, September 2015, my first time in the NL.. View attachment 24703 (I'm actually facing the palace so, it's not in the shot). 2016 was awesome in Amsterdam!.. On my return visit, the guy in my hotel I used/use.. asked me if I'd been there last week as soon as he saw me walk in with the holiday package group I went with; I said 'No, I was here last September'.. Waiting for my room key, next door to this hotel (virtually, it's real close); in my favourite coffee shop in the NL.. The guy who's coffeeshop said 'Hey, I remember you, you were here last year!", that was cool... And then like a day later (I've only ever stayed 3 days, 2 nights so far), I saw a cat I saw do something really cool that belonged to the hotel next to my hotel, and I remember that cat because, tbh, that cat has balls/is brave/got guts/is cool, he did something really cool when I first saw him that I never saw a cat do; he calmly and casually walked round a group of busy/rowdy/loudy/intoxicated people, all loud and paying it attention; Like it was nothing! This cat then used a door mat as a litter tray... Which A; Impressed me he felt able to do that there in his own busy touristy bit of the Red Light District in Amsterdam, and B; seeing that cat do that taught me to avoid using the door mats to wipe my feet on.
Again, thanks for the welcome messages! @Ben Dover: I am born in Arnhem, so that's nice that you've been there! And thanks for your great story about the Netherlands. It was very amusing to read. Thank you for your story!! Greetings, PeaceFreak PS. I am very interested in operation Barbarossa at the moment, so I am going to search for some topics about it here
