It kind of played out the way I figured, but there were some surprising entries. The world's most expensive armed forces
Actually, that pic was the lead out photo for the montage. Some gun bunny from the US Army's 25th ID pic announces the US as the leading military (as far as being funded). Since this was a financial appropriated generated tally sheet, they should've shown some super carriers instead, but that's just me. BTW, those white pants aren't as good looking as the blue ones with the red stripes.
Summer Service Dress and Ceremonial Alpha/Bravo vs Winter Service Dress Alpha/Bravo. The Officer Dress Blues with white trousers beats the hell out of the uniform it replaced, the Dress Whites:
Yeah those dress whites do look outdated. They look like "dress pajamas". Don't belly up to the spaghetti or pizza bar with those outfits! The army had those back in the old days, when they still had khakis. Man nothing beats the look of fresh starched khakis.
Monetary cost isn't really an effective measure. $1 spent by one country doesn't buy the same as a $1 or equivalent somewhere else - and frankly our $1 probably buys less than most. If we spend ten times as much as some other country, does that mean we have ten times as many troops or tanks or fighter planes?
Not in isolation but when other factors are taken into account it can be quite useful. Very true. That's very debatable. Indeed I would argue that US and European defence spending is among the most efficient in the world. Quite obviously no. Combat power is more important than just numbers. Training, performance, and life cycle cost considerations may mean that a soldier, vehicle, ship, or plane from one country may be worth significantly more than the same type from another.
