    This photograph shows one of the Navy's complement of aircraft carriers during WWII, the 22,000-ton H.M.S. Ark Royal. Flying above her are some of her complement of aeroplanes which have just taken off from the huge flight deck.

    HMS Ark Royal (91) served Royal Navy in WW2 as the aircraft carrier. Maximum speed was 30 kn and build by company Cammell Laird and Company, Ltd.

    Honours and awards:

    Norway in 1940
    Spartivento in 1940
    Mediterranean in 1940-41
    Bismarck in 1941
    Malta Convoys in 1941
