I know it's not ww2 related but--still is a great war film. This time you have Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier who are rival leaders. Widmark and his men ((The Vikings))get captured by Poitier and his forces ((The Moors)) while they are in search for a giant bell made of gold. It's finally out on DVD and this movie is worth buying.
Or better known in the UK Carl as oh no its Easter Sunday again... Music can never be forgotten.....Viking horn..you know the rest...de der de der de der de der de derrrrr...brilliant movie
Love the movie for many reasons. One of my favorite scenes is when the Vikings escape the cages the Moors held them in and get inside the Moor Palace and when they happen on the rooms where the women are sleeping well---heh heh--brought many laughs on my end. Also love the scenes in which the Longship first reached the Moorish coast and was stranded on the beach. The fighting scenes were excellent. This movie to me just barely beat out Kirk Douglas's "The Vikings," as it is also a fav of mine.
Carl, where did you pick up this DVD ? The Kirk Douglas version was a top hit with me years ago and I'm not sure if I would enjoy it now with all the super graphics displayed in present movies. I must remember that I was kid and special effects and also movie acting was not top of my list.....
Which one are you talking about? The Longships or The Vikings? I got both at the same place which was Best Buy and ive seen The Vikings at Walmart and both at Circuit City. The Vikings was going for about $10.00 or $12.00 and The Longships I think was about $14.00. I usually limit my purchases to about $30.00 when buying DVDs. So I can at least get 2-3 movies at a time. My next DVD hunt will be when Where Eagles Dare comes out. [ 07. July 2003, 05:26 PM: Message edited by: C.Evans ]
