Guys, check this and hopefully they haven't removed the fuselage after painting. The gorgeous He 219A-2 under the painters gun finally ! The origianl paint was under a ton of US makeup after the war and the history can be found by punching in the left side counter marked: He 219A-A www.nasm.edu/nasm/garber/cam/garbcam_java.htm the fuselage is painted in the night ground attack scheme that was destined for some late war Ju 88's, bf 110's and some I./NJG 1 He 219's in 1945. Not sure if this is the correct camo or not but will check with my friends in Denmark as this is where this particualr a/c was captured and then ship to the states. Tome Dietz from Garber told me that the a/c is in good condition, with most of the avionics still.......raidos and the FuG 220d, just need the arrays and tale warning set ups and the schrägwaffen sight. The weapons poackage included the Mk 108, 30mm oblique weapons and two 2cm's in the wings. And finally the outboard 2cm's in the ventral tray......only two of them and the inner two in the tray were not installed. hope the images are still there ! E
Excuse my spelling gentlemen.....my CT is killing me today ! try this as well...... http://www.luftarchiv.de/forum/bilder/forum_bodies/241.jpg E time for drugs.....or maybe a glass of that wine again.....yeah !
I would love to see this. Maybe the 'Uhu' has become over-rated in legend, but you have to say that it is a very interesting aircraft...
well U know my feelings on it's skills Martin, but yes when complete it will be a treat to see. Tom told me they were hoping that if they could stay with this project it would take them about 1 year for completion. I am hoping with so many a/c on the table floor that they get going on the gorgeous Ta 152 and get it back into some (close) camo of Stab./JG 301 E
Wow !! With out the wings on it really looks like a medium bomber rather than a fighter. So Erich, what are you going to do when they paint it all wrong ?!! I was at the Air Force Museum the the late 80,s and alot of their aircraft then had bogus paint jobs. The one on the JU-88 was terrible ! I hope I am wrong about the Owl though and they do it justice.
Ta I've got my 4x4 loaded with tons of paint and the air-less goes in next..... seriously though I am trying to verify if this scheme was used on the A-2 or any He 219's that were of I./NJG 1 that were of the older production blocks and not replaced by the newer A-7 variant. Another note is that knowledgeable Jerry Crandall of Eagle Editions has been asked to come on board for consensus about the re-painting of the stab./JG 301 Ta 152. If so this particular a/c is going to be a beaut ! E
