Let's imagine that Seelowe occurred, and that the UK fell. The current year is 1945, and the Eastern Front looks similar to what it did in early '42. What would the 274 be used for, as in, what would its targets be? How well would this aircraft perform considering that Germany has had enough time to refine the design?

Please open What Ifs in the correct forum.

This one is bizarre enough, I want to see where it goes....if it goes anywhere.

They'd bomb Moscow...from height. And be looking to New York...maybe a Ta-152 escort...

With a maximum range given as 3,400 miles, operating out of bases in Cornwall, it could just reach New York...but not get back.

Yeah Greenland would be the go...but it would have to be a very secret base/s...and only a short bombing campaign before leaving...the US would obviously take Greenland as soon as the realised...

If we assume the 1942 position in Russia, Bombing Moscow would be a milk run distance wise for the He-274 and a waste of its potential, but yes Hitler would have it bomb the capital when he should have them target the Ural factories.

What if anything did the Germans know about the Ural factories?

Not much. They did know of the narrow Energy sector in Moscow and Gorky, already in '43. Operation Eisenhammer might've had a chance.
