Silly me...i didnt realise you could play without having the CD in the drive, as i just found out. Playing as Nationalist China on Easy.

Communist China attacked and mysteriously offered peace after i sent me armies to attack - which got rid of 2/3 (they only had 3) territories. Fine by me. But then my neighbors to the South attacked. I went on down and delt with them, made peace, positioned my troops and then attacked and annexed them, just in time to hear that the Japanese were attacking! I met their forces in the North and didnt lose any territory, but didnt notice the spearhead coming from the south (it seems they have an ally down there) so then i spent a month or two chasing their armies around and reclaiming lost territory, all the while having the US and Soviet Union helping me out through scripted events. Still researching Inf to upgrade them, same with Artillery and Fighters so i will better be able to deal with the Japs. Even strength, Japs win. But if i have Arty Brigade or numbers i generally do. So i have reclaimed lost territory, gained small amounts, and am waiting for some more infantry to deploy.

Oh yeah, i basically broke my ankle on tuesday night so if some one wants to try MP with me (fully patched version) let me know...

I'm afraid i probably don't have time to play multiplayer. I play when i can but my wife says i play too much. which is probably true...but it's so dern adicting!! I've never seen time go by so fast lol.

In my war i extended the Maginot line to the Atlantic which kept the Germans stacked up on my border. me stacked up against them.

Also stacked up against Italy in Southern France. Although now it's only German divisions facing me there.

I'm trying to land troops by sea into Italy but they have at least 3 division on each beach, airpower is helping but not enough. I don't have marines research so i get severe penalties in amphibious assaults. I've tried invading numerous times but failed, luckily my divisions were able to escape everytime.

The Soviets attacked Germany in 42 which forced them to move some divisions to that front...which allowed me to poke a hole into their line. I managed to push 2 provinces and hold them for awhile but eventually got pushed back to my starting point. Although the Germans now have 26 divisions in a risky spot, if they stay there i may attempt to encircle them...but keeping them, contained is going to be hard and could result in me getting cut off.
I'm going to need some luck and some airpower. I'm going to run Close air support ground attacking and Tactical aircraft doing interdiction thus lowering their organization.

    We'll see what happens!

Its mid 1938 in my game. I took two Communist China Provinces(playing as Nationalist) after a war with them, and then annexed the chinese faction to the south. I'll get more details later, but one thing i wish i had done was stay on top of production orders. I currently have enough troops to stalemate the slightly more powerful infantry of the Japanese in the North - i think i've actually crossed some river up there but only have a foothold. The sneaky bastards attacked my coast with only a few diivisions, but mistakenly i didnt have any, so i am currently trying to cut off their ports and starve them out as i encircle them with my other troops. It doesnt help i am the only one who seems to be fighting the Japanese.

As soon as I get this game, I'll play somebody in MP. But I should practice in single player mode for a bit.

    Man...Can't wait!!!

Well i should be around anytime in the afternnon (after 5PM EST) to play if anyone is interested. Maybe as a Nationalist/COmmunist China duo (allied together though) just to give the rest of Asia a pretty powerful Duo against China.

So if one, buys the Doomsday expansion, He could play MP vs another person who does not have Doomsday? (as long as he is fully patched)?

Well i'm really not positive but i would guess that is a no. You could not for instance buy doomsday and have an online battle with someone who only has hoi2. Mainly because doomsday changes some of the interface.

Although i'm really not sure. You should try registering on their forums and ask the question. They have a tech support thread in which you should be able to get a response from someone more in the know.

Well i made that push but i couldn't even get through their weaker front line. In response to the attack to germans spread out their forces a bit more and now there REALLY is a stalemate going on.

I am madly researching marine techs to reduce amphibious assault penalties. Maybe if i can knockout Italy (sorry Mussolini :D )it'll change things around a bit. We'll see.

Hmm...well i havent bought Doomsday, and dont plan on it either (i'm broke) but i believe that since it is an expansion you need the full version of the regular game. If it comes with it (which i think it might) then when you run the game there should be an option to look for patches. I imagine at this point that the regular game is fully patched if it is released with the Doomsday expansion. Easy to find out when you play the game - it tells you what version it is. As long as you dont try to play a Doomsday MP with a regular HOI2 MP.

But yes, you should be able to play MP vs. some one who doesnt have Doomsday, you just wont be able to play any Doomsday scenarios or with whatever updates Doomsday has. I think the prefered MP version is the patched version of HOI2.

Let us know when you get the game [IMG]

EDIT: Yes, check the forums but i think if its like most expansions you can still play HOI2 (Like RTW and its Barbarian Invasion - can play either whenever you like).

Havent had a chance to play recently, but if i recall i am waiting on some technologies to research. Getting some Basic Fighters (its suprising how crappy Nationalist China Tech is when compared to the Japs) and also upgrading my Infantry to the next level (which i think would put them on equal playing terms as Japan). Also researching some other things like Land Warfare Doctrines and Manufactoring things. I'll write it down next time. I dont plan on building on tanks (its an Infantry War in Asia anyways) and will work on Marines once all of China and Manchuria is mine. I suppose building up a Navy could be useful too...but that'll have to wait (and there prob wont be any time given how long it takes to build ships, let alone research them).

As far as I know, Doomsday does come with the full HOI2 game. (that's what I read on other forums).

Anyway...I still don't know what version to get, but I know I'am getting one of them!!

    Thanks for the help guys.

Just FYI here is a quote I got from the HOI2 forum.

You cannot however, play multiplayer with DD versus HOI2 patched. This might be made possible later, but most likely not, since there are many features added to Doomsday (it being an expansion and all).

IMO you should go for DD, even if it costs a bit extra (which I don't think it does). There might be a few bugs still, but the HOI2 franchise (and with it DD) is very stable, in my experience. And those bugs, which are not game-stoppers, are bound to be ironed out sooner or later.

So i suppose its not an expansion like the Rome Total War expansion (its basically a very large patch that adds a whole lot of new things). Well i wont be getting Doomsday for a very very long time - mostly due to the fact that i have very little money to my name right now. More people have HOI2 at the moment too i'd assume. So if you're interested in MP with us other forum members go HOI2 and get Doomsday at a later date...or get Doomsday now. Haha - choice is yours.

Well its only matter of time before my Defeat. The Japs and there Allies keep attacking...even with 54 or so divisions of Infantry, it not nearly enough. There troops are far superior to mine (though i just upgraded to '39 Inf) and, well, by time i quel one invasion, another comes in from somewhere else. but now they are attack en masse, and at my industrial heart (along coast and all) so i really dont see any way out of it, unless some one by the name of the UNITED STATES helps me out. Communist China got turned into a puppet i think. It would be nice if i didnt seem to be only one fighting the Japanese....

    Mussonline try this tactic.
I of course don't know the situation but i do know the nationalist China front with Japan is pretty large.

Make a hole for the Japanese to flow through. so in other words have most of the line have enough troops to hold it then have a province with a large force...then have a province with nothing in it then the next province has a powerful force and then after that the line continues to be strong enough just to hold. Hopefully the Japanese will push into the hole and then behind you and then spread out into land not occupied by your troops...as they thin out you close the hole. The Japanese then have no supply and widdle away, bomb them with interdiction if you can...being out of supply won't allow them to reorg much at all...then you clean up the mess...mwha mwha mwha!

Actually you can. In the tech aspect of the game there is a tree for transport aircraft. As you advance on that tree you develop better aircraft with longer range thus giving your paratroopers more reach plus you develop the ability to transport supplies by air eventually...after that...i've never done it before...but i think it works like this. You select the transport squadron and you can give it a mission of air drop supplies or something to that effect.

However, just as in real life it doesn't give the cut off troops a lot to work with and unless the transports are escorted are pretty suceptible to fighters and interceptors.

Also, i think this changed a tad with the last patch but for some reason transports are VERY expensive so the first step is to simply be able to afford them and then build them.

As France i don't even have transports.

cool good luck with! Let me know how things go. Don't get frustrated at first, there's a lot to take into account while playing and it seems a bit daunting at first.

But if you ask for help and read the game forum then in no time you'll be having tons of fun sitting in bed, class, work etc planning offensive and defensive maneuvers!

Ok well it is now 1943 and with just the forces of France at my disposal i can only defend. I then realised that one can take military control of allies. So i took over control of Great Britain.
That way i'm controling all the aspects of France but also the military of Great Britain. The computer still does everything else, dictating where resources go, research, production etc for UK.

I am moving tons of British military equipment into France. This makes sense i figure because in reality Great Britain was the collection point, well with an undefeated France...france is now that collection point.

The British wern't doing anything anyway...the Italians were kicked out of North Africa and the Italian Navy is all but completely gone. and for some reason Japan never attacked the Allies, they are 100% preoccupied with China.

This opens all sorts of possibilities. With British support i should definitely be able to create a bridgehead in Italy.
It'll open up possibilities on the Maginot line as well as in Southern France at the Italian border.
